Simon Gogerly And The Antelope Ocx! -
Wednesday, 13th April 2011
Master UK mixer extraordinaire Simon Gogerly has invested in an Antelope Audio OCX master clock generator for his DAW system.
Antelope's Isochrone OCX emerges as the new quality standard in professional master clocks. A master clock is the heart of the digital studio, essential to maintaining stability and preserving sonic integrity. It is crucial that a master clock be flawless, and the Isochrone OCX exists to meet this need. Uncompromising design has created the most stable, best sounding master clock available.
Some of the many main features include, Oven Controlled Discrete Transistor Crystal Oscillator for lowest jitter, Atomic clock input resolves to Rubidium clock for perfect stability, Jitter Management Module improves sonic performance, Sample Rates 32-192 kHz, Factory calibrated to better than +/- 0.02PPM accuracy via Atomic Clock, W/Cx256 "Superclock" output for Digidesign Pro-Tools systems, Outputs multiple, divisible sample rates ,8 Word Clock outputs, 2 AES/EBU outputs, 2 S/PDIF output.
"I've used other clocks in the past and it's good to know that everything is synced but never noticed any real difference in sound quality. When I was mastering the new underworld album with Miles at Metropolis he recommended the antelope clocks as Metropolis recently purchased 6x Antelope Audio Trinity clocks and the 10M Atomic Clock from Unity Audio, and that I should check them out.
I had a mix running at my studio which was sounding good and when I hooked up the OCX and hit external on my SSL Alpha link interface I noticed an immediate difference. Imaging became wide and clear and the bottom end seemed tighter and more defined. In the top end a clearer more focused sound.
Then I groaned, because once I heard it I knew I had to buy one! I'm also looking forward to the difference a 10m would make!"- Simon Gogerly
